Rehabilitation after Surgery in Mallorca
Rehabilitation and pain therapy under one roof
Good rehabilitation starts with a thorough assessment. Our doctors in Orthopedics & Pain Therapy and Neurology coordinate directly with our physiotherapists – in the same building. The result is a treatment plan tailored to your surgery, your capacity and your goals.
We continue the treatment plan from your home country – where you recover.
Pain after surgery or from long periods of guarding can slow rehabilitation down. That is why we combine physiotherapy & rehabilitation with medical pain management and our multimodal pain therapy at the day clinic where needed. Imaging such as MRI, CT and X-ray is available when medically indicated.
Integrative options such as IHHT cell training can be added in coordination with the treating team. If you are travelling from abroad, you will find practical information under International Patients and Admission & Process.

Rehabilitation in Mallorca: FAQ
What is post-operative rehabilitation (AHB)?
It is rehabilitation that begins shortly after a hospital stay or surgery – for example after a hip or knee replacement or disc surgery. In Germany it is known as Anschlussheilbehandlung (AHB). The aim is to rebuild mobility, capacity and independence in everyday life.
Can I do my rehabilitation in Mallorca?
Private rehabilitation with us is possible for privately insured and self-paying patients. We continue the treatment plan from your home country. Please send us your medical letters, surgical report and existing findings in advance so we can assess medical suitability.
Who covers the costs?
Treatment is billed privately. Before starting we inform you about the planned services and costs. Whether your private insurer or state aid (Beihilfe) covers the costs depends on your policy and individual approval – we provide the necessary medical documents. Rehabilitation through the German pension insurance (DRV) or statutory health insurance usually takes place in their contracted facilities in Germany.
How soon after surgery can rehabilitation start?
Your surgeon and our medical team decide this together. Wound healing, capacity and your general condition are decisive. Please ask about current availability.
I still have pain after surgery – does rehab still make sense?
Pain after surgery is common and we treat it medically alongside rehabilitation. Physiotherapy and pain medicine are coordinated so you can take part in therapy well. New or severe pain is assessed by a doctor first.
Inpatient, day clinic or outpatient – which suits me?
Inpatient care means round-the-clock support. In the day clinic you take part in your programme during the day and stay overnight in your accommodation. As an outpatient you attend individual appointments in Palma. We decide on the right option in the initial medical consultation.
